Privacy Policy
Last updated October 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information BLD (“BLD”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use BLD, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. Where we process personal data contained in a business customer’s project content on that customer’s behalf, our Data Processing Agreement also applies.
1.Who we are
BLD connects clients with survey professionals for building surveys, laser scanning, land surveying, drone services, BIM and Scan-to-BIM work. BLD is responsible for the personal data you provide through the BLD website and mobile apps (the “Service”).
2.Personal information we collect
Information you give us:
- Account details: your name, email address, mobile number and password, and whether you use BLD as a client, a surveyor or both. Passwords are handled by our secure sign-in provider and are never stored in plain text.
- Company and profile details: account type (individual or company), company name, work email, address, company size and office addresses, registration number and website, your industry and role, how you heard about BLD, a profile photo or company logo, and an optional bio.
- Surveyor portfolio: services, coverage area and ZIP codes, rates, equipment, experience, capacity, insurance details, and documents or images you upload.
- Projects: project briefs, site addresses and map locations, building details, requested services, timelines, project prices and quotes (including who accepted a price and when), files and notes.
- Support and feedback: help desk tickets, messages and attachments, ratings and feedback you leave.
Information collected automatically: sign-in sessions, IP address, basic device and browser details, and security and activity logs, used to keep your account safe and the Service working. When a request is blocked by our rate limits, we also log the account, IP address and the page requested.
Profile change history: each time your account or surveyor profile is changed, by you or by our staff, we record which details changed, the old and new values, when, and who made the change. We use this history to resolve disputes, explain matching decisions, and investigate suspicious account activity. Only authorized BLD staff can see it.
Information from others: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and basic profile details from Google. Other users may also share information about you, for example a client rating a surveyor after a project, or a company client inviting you to join their team by entering your email address. We use that address only to send you the invitation and to let you join.
3.How we use personal information
- To create and secure your account, including email and mobile verification codes.
- To run the marketplace: matching client projects with suitable surveyors near the site, sending offers, and tracking projects through to completion and feedback.
- To send account, project, match and support notifications by email, SMS and in the app.
- To answer support requests and improve BLD, including aggregated, de-identified statistics.
- To prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents, and to enforce our Terms.
- To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
4.Who can see your information
- Other BLD users, only as needed: a surveyor offered your project sees the brief, the site location and your public username or company name. Once a surveyor accepts a project, they also see the site contact details included in the project, so they can arrange access. Clients see the portfolio of surveyors they browse or are matched with. Other users know you by your public username, including on ratings and feedback. Your legal name, email address and mobile number are not otherwise shown to other users.
- Your company team: if you belong to a company client account on BLD, everyone on that team shares access to the company's projects. The account owner and team admins see each person's name, email address and team role; members see only their own.
- BLD staff: authorized team members can access data to provide support and operate the platform. Staff access is limited by role and permission. Support replies to your help desk tickets come from “Support” rather than a named individual. If we assign you an account manager, you see their first name and photo.
7.Your communication choices
We send messages needed to run your account and projects, such as verification codes, offers, match updates and support replies. SMS messages are sent only to a mobile number you have verified, and you can reply STOP to opt out of non-essential texts. You can change notification preferences in the app where available. Some account and security messages cannot be turned off while your account is active.
8.Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and how we use it;
- get a copy of your personal information in a portable format;
- correct information that is inaccurate or out of date;
- delete your account and associated personal information; and
- object to or restrict certain processing.
You can view and update most of your information in the app at any time. To make any other request, open a help desk ticket or email support@bld.online. We may need to confirm your identity first. You can use an authorized agent where the law allows, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
9.How we protect it
All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, and connections to our databases are encrypted. Data stored in our databases and file storage is encrypted at rest. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Web sessions use secure httpOnly cookies with short-lived access tokens, and the mobile app keeps sign-in tokens in the device’s secure storage. We limit sign-in attempts and verification codes, and access to personal data inside BLD is limited to staff who need it.
Every request is checked on our servers, so you can only open projects, matches and help requests that belong to you or that you are part of. We also limit how many requests each network address and each account can make, especially when browsing other users, to make it harder to bulk-copy profiles and listings. When a request is blocked by these limits, we log the account, IP address and the page requested so we can investigate abuse.
Our servers send your browser or app only the information your role needs. Other users’ legal names, contact details and internal staff notes are not sent to your device.
Staff accounts are invitation-only. Each new staff member chooses their own password through a single-use, time-limited link.
No security measure is perfect, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10.How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Your profile change history is kept for as long as your account exists. After you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information, including that history, within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep it to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
When you replace or remove a file you uploaded, such as a profile photo, company logo, certificate or project file, we delete the old file from our file storage once nothing in your account still uses it. Your profile change history keeps only a record that the file changed. When your account is deleted, the files stored for your account are deleted from our file storage as well.
Other users who received project information must return or delete it when the project ends, as set out in the Non-Disclosure Agreement, except where the law or professional record-keeping rules require them to keep it.
11.Where your data is stored
BLD is currently offered only to customers in the United States, and your data is stored primarily on servers in the United States. Some service providers process limited data elsewhere, as listed on our Sub-processors page. If you use BLD from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. BLD is not currently offered to users in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom.
12.Children
BLD is a professional service and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
13.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and let you know by email or in the app.
